So much has happened since May 3rd, I don't hardly know where to begin!
(Eric makes this expression all the time, lol.)
We came home on the 4th, people brought food every night, the Mooney girls had cleaned my house and came back the next day to get the downstairs apartment ready for my mom...
(Daddy and Eric couch time!)
(Jake making faces)
(I think Eric's bored!

)
The days are filled with diapers, onesies, nursing, cleaning up messes...

(The Mooney women (Mom, Hannah, Jenny, and Melissa) made us a special dinner on Tuesday night. Roast with veggies, rolls, sparkling apple-grape cider, and fruit salad!)

(A family of three - home at last!)
There's a lot of things they don't tell you about babies... or maybe they tell you, but you just don't understand what it means until it happens to you. Like the fact that once a baby comes into your life, you rarely get any "me" time. Or, the nights where you jump at every little noise your baby makes thinking he's either going to cry or choke or stop breathing...

(Playtime on Daddy's tummy!)
I guess the hardest part was feeding him. Not knowing if he was getting enough, trying to keep a schedule so he would sleep at night, having to wake up every 2 hours and go through the laborious task of trying to get him to eat, and then trying to get him to burp so he wouldn't cry, then changing his diaper at the RIGHT time so he wouldn't poop or pee JUST when you get the clean diaper on him...

(He almost gets lost in all his blankets!

)
Yes, those first few days were difficult. Its not easy having a little life hanging on the choices you make. But there's other things Mom's WILL tell you... how you just want to spend a few extra minutes holding your baby cuz you can't hardly bear to stop looking at them, touching them, or smelling their new-baby smell.

Or how your heart wants to burst with pride every time somebody stops to "ooh" and "ahh" and "coo" at your child. Your whole life revolves around the little one at first... but soon, things start to regulate and you find that you suddenly have time to do dishes while the baby sleeps - and you don't have to use that time to grab a much-needed nap.

(Daddy and Eric resting comfortably. Aren't they both so cute????

)
My mom got here at the perfect time. The first few days I had NO clue what I was doing, but I was doing my best. Eric wasn't really fussy, but I was getting up every two hours so he could eat... so we were exhausted by the third day. My mom stepped in and got up with me every time the first night she was here. But now, things are on a pretty good schedule, and last night we only had to get up once in the night to feed him!

(BIG yawn!)
(So small... )
So, things are good and Eric is just precious. We've gone shopping, gone to the Irrigation Festival parade, and the church on Sunday. Eric loves car rides.

(Wrapping him up "burrito" style!)
(In his carseat, enjoying the view)
(The Eric Mooney trademark pose.

)
(My little angel baby.)
Sorry our blog has kind of died out, but thought I'd update here for those of you who do still kind of haunt xanga.

That's all folks!
Jake, @mber, and Eric!
